"COMMUNICATING WITH YOUR NEWLY ADOPTED CHILD"
Communication is an essential aspect of attachment in any child-parent (sibling or extended family) relationship. Add adoption and the increasing age of children at the time of placement, and this process becomes even more complex. This workshop will help participants understand the emotional aspects of communication, develop an awareness of their child's needs and identify strategies to build and enhance communication within the family. Verbal and non-verbal communication techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. These powerful and effective tools ease initial adjustments by enhancing immediate communication regardless of the child's age or native language.
